ABOUT ME

I wish I could function and be as productive & organized as my Palm Z22. Unfortunately, it isn’t my area of expertise to be ‘organized’. In fact, to the human eye, I am probably observed as a pig living in her pigsty. I’d like to think of myself as a ‘work-in-progress’ which is in the intense process of revision. Everyone knows that a first draft is usually a rough copy. It isn’t until you work out the kinks and sand down the rough patches that you come across something quite unique. I know that I’ll never be as organized as my mom, but I’m trying to organize myself in a way that suits me and my qualities.

I am a writer & a dreamer. And I’m proud to say I’m writing my own chapters to my life.

So, if you’re looking for a finished masterpiece worthy of a standing ovation then I apologize, because you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you are interested in the raw, natural, and down-to-earth honesty of a woman whose trying to make sense of herself and her life, then you’re definitely in the right area. And anyway, the only time people will be real is when the lights, camera, and microphone are off and there’s nothing left to hide from.

ABOUT ME

Background. I was adopted when I was a baby. I was born outside of the U.S. in a country called the Philippines. Up until I believe fourth grade, my family and I had been living outside of the States. We lived for awhile in the Philippines then moved to England. However, we weren’t supposed to move to the States in the beginning. We were actually supposed to move to Poland when my dad’s job offer fell through and instead we came to the U.S. In the States, we lived first in Maryland and now reside here in the New England area. With the opportunity of living in different places around the world, we also had the chance and experience to travel to different countries. We’ve visited places such as France and Italy.

Who am I? Other than figuring out who I am through these blog posts which is probably the best tool to understanding who I truly am (both you and me), I am Meg. My name is Meaghan, but everyone seems to pronounce that wrong (including me at a time, unfortunately). A lot of people pronounce it as Meg-gen, but my name is actually May-gen. Maybe, I should’ve had the nickname May instead of Meg, but at the time, I had pronounced it Meg-gen, too. So now that I know the correct pronunciation, I’d rather just stick to my friendly and easy to know nickname than try to correct everyone who’s so fond of pronouncing it the other way.

Right now, I’m on my last semester of college and will be graduating in this spring with hopefully a B.A. in English and Writing minor. My future is still a bit blurry, because I’m not quite sure what to do yet with my life after college. At first, my intention was to join the Peace Corps, but there are some medical reasons why I opted not to. Even though, I’m still thinking of volunteering outside of the U.S. for a shorter term, I’m also looking into AmeriCorps. However, there is a part of me that feels I shouldn’t wait to get my feet on the ground and get a solid job, but I’ve been wanting to do some heavy-duty volunteer work ever since high school. So as of right now, everything is still up in the air.

As for my B.A. in English and my minor in Writing, I am definitely continuing my writing. I don’t know if I’ll utilize my degree straight off, but I have a feeling that writing or some part of the English Language will be used. Though, I have no desire at the moment to teach, I do feel that if I do teach it will be for a good cause or for writers who desire to write.

My family is definitely coming to a crucial point in our lives together. Both my older brother and I are graduating this semester. Soon both my brother and I will be moved out for good and be on our feet. My brother got a job offer and has decided to stay out there. He has already proved that he can live on his own just fine – now, it’s just me that needs to find her footing.
